Slot.it SIGMF55 aluminum lock-ring ferrule for M-series modular inline crown gears using 5.5 mm pinions.

This small piece is a key part of Slot.it's modular crown system. It locates and locks the crown assembly on a 3/32" (2.38 mm) axle while allowing the calibrated steel washers to isolate the rubbing surfaces and reduce drivetrain friction.

Use it when

• You are running a Slot.it GM-series modular inline crown.
• Your motor uses a 5.5 mm diameter inline pinion such as the common Slot.it PI08, PI09, PI10 or PI11 family.
• You want the modular system's reduced-friction washer arrangement rather than a conventional one-piece crown setup.

Pro assembly notes

Install the specified washers between the motor shaft and ferrule, lightly oil the contact surfaces, and make certain the M2 grub screw passes through the opening in the crown hub and locks positively onto the axle. If that screw stops on the hub instead of the axle, the assembly can feel tight but move under load.

Jim's setup note: This is the correct ferrule when you want to retain the familiar 5.5 mm Slot.it inline pinion system. It makes the modular crown especially useful because you can tune crown tooth count without giving up a proven pinion size.
