Professor Motor PMTR2104 Fixed Analog Transistor Slot Car Controller – Alligator Clips
Simple, dependable electronic control with traditional alligator-clip track connections.
The Professor Motor PMTR2104is one of our favorite controllers for house, club and recreational racing. It combines Professor Motor's proven transistor electronics with a simple fixed-response design requiring no sensitivity, brake or other adjustments.
That's exactly why we like it for casual racers, beginners, kids, club loaners and event use. Hand it to a driver and race—there are no settings to accidentally change between heats.
This version is supplied with color-coded alligator clips for traditional commercial, club and home-track controller connections.

Why We Like the PMTR2104
Not every racer needs a controller covered with knobs and switches.
For clubs, commercial raceways and home tracks where controllers are shared, simplicity is an advantage. The PMTR2104 provides smooth electronic control while eliminating settings that can be accidentally changed from one driver to the next.
It's an excellent choice for:
- Club house controllers
- Commercial raceway loaner controllers
- Home analog raceways
- Beginning and occasional racers
- Kids and family racing
- Party and event tracks
- A dependable personal backup controller
A Wider "Sweet Spot" Than Traditional Resistor Controllers
One of the things we particularly like about Professor Motor transistor controllers is their broad usable response range.
Traditional resistor controllers, such as the classic Parma Turbo, depend heavily on matching the controller's resistance to the motor and track voltage. The right resistance can feel excellent, but change the motor or voltage and the same controller may suddenly feel too touchy or too sluggish.
The Professor Motor transistor design is much less dependent on that narrow resistance match. As a result, one controller can provide comfortable, progressive throttle control across a wider range of motor types and track voltages.
We think of this as having a wider "sweet spot." It doesn't mean every car will feel identical, but you're much less likely to need a different controller simply because you changed cars, motors or track voltage.
This is particularly valuable for house, club and loaner controllers, where the same controller may be used with many different cars during a race day.
Direct Wired Analog Response
One of the pleasures of analog slot racing is the direct connection between the driver's controller and the car.
The PMTR2104 is a wired analog controller, so throttle changes are applied directly through the track's analog power circuit without the command processing or wireless communication required by digital and wireless control systems.
For racers who appreciate immediate and predictable response, this direct connection remains one of the advantages of wired analog racing.
Electronic Control Without the Complexity
The PMTR2104 uses transistor electronics rather than a traditional wire-wound resistor to regulate power to the car.
This provides a useful operating range across many common analog slot car motors while retaining the familiar trigger operation racers already know.
The fixed response also means drivers using matching PMTR2104 controllers begin with the same basic controller characteristics—particularly useful for club loaners and organized recreational racing.
Recommended Applications
The PMTR2104 is intended for positive-polarity analog tracks operating approximately 12–15 volts DC and works well with a broad range of common home, club and commercial slot car motors.
Professor Motor rates this controller for applications through approximately Parma 16D-level motors.
It is not recommended for Group 12, Group 15 or similar high-current commercial racing motors, particularly on heavily glued or extremely high-traction tracks. Excessive current demand may activate the controller's internal protection circuitry.
Track Voltage & Controller Response
Because the PMTR2104 has a fixed response rather than adjustable sensitivity, track voltage can be used to tailor overall performance.
If the response is too aggressive for inexperienced drivers or particularly responsive cars, reducing track voltage can make the cars easier to control while also reducing crash speeds.
Alligator Clips & Other Connection Options
This controller is supplied with color-coded alligator clips for direct connection to compatible commercial, club and home track terminals.
We also offer an XLR-equipped version of this controller for fast, secure connection to OmniSlotBox systems and other XLR-equipped tracks.
Adapters are available separately for racers who want to use the same controller with multiple track connection systems. Connector installation services and adapters are listed separately in this controller category.
Handle Colors & Controller Identification
Our preferred stock configuration is the clear Professor Motor handle. Clear handles provide a clean appearance and make it easy to identify controllers using our color and number ID stickers.
When supplied from our normal clear-handle inventory, we include a color/number controller ID sticker kit. This allows controllers to be quickly assigned to different analog lanes or numbered digital controller positions while keeping the controllers themselves interchangeable.
Professor Motor also offers molded handles in several colors, including Clear, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Purple and Black, subject to current manufacturer availability.
There is no additional charge for handle color. If you prefer a particular color, message us when ordering. If it is not currently in our inventory, we can normally obtain it from Professor Motor; additional lead time may apply.
Controller ID sticker kits are also available separately in this category.

A Great House Controller
We like the PMTR2104 because it fills an important gap between inexpensive resistor controllers and more complicated adjustable competition controllers.
It's smooth and simple enough for someone who has never driven a slot car before, yet provides the electronic performance experienced racers expect.
Good electronic control, direct wired analog response and no settings to fiddle with—sometimes simplicity really is a performance feature.
