Track Compatibility
Not recommended for Carrera 1/30 high-banked curves. The wider 2/30 banked curves and larger radii provide better clearance for low GT bodies.
Jim's Track Note
Some low GT cars have a rear diffuser or body overhang extending well behind the rear axle. On very tight Radius 1 banked turns, that lower edge can touch the track and upset the car.
If clearance is only slightly tight, the lowest rear edge can often be carefully relieved with a coarse emery board. Remove only what is necessary and check clearance frequently.
Jim's Racer Perspective
For Carrera 1/24 cars, my three favorite upgrades are an RMS-124-CM motor, better rear tires, and less magnetic downforce.
The RMS motor delivers excellent performance at the approximately 14.5V normally used for Carrera 1/32 cars. This lets 1/24 and 1/32 cars share the same voltage setting instead of switching between roughly 14.5V and 18V. It also draws less current than the stock Carrera 1/24 motor, an advantage when running several Digital 124 cars at once.
I also prefer quality replacement rear tires. Carrera rubber can vary from car to car and may harden with age. Good synthetic tires provide more consistent grip, longer life, and more predictable handling. Urethane tires also have the advantage of being trued for smoother rotation.
Finally, I usually remove the rear magnet first. Keeping only the forward magnet allows the car to move and drift more progressively instead of staying heavily planted until grip suddenly disappears. For true no-magnet racing, both magnets can be removed, putting more emphasis on tire grip, chassis setup, and throttle control.
Run it stock or tune it your way—the Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II is a terrific platform for serious 1/24 Carrera racing.
