TheProfessor Motor PMTR2104is one of our favorite controllers for house, club and recreational analog racing. It combines Professor Motor's provenPlatinum Series transistor electronicswith a simple fixed-response design requiring no sensitivity, brake or other adjustments.
That's exactly why we like it forcasual racers, beginners, kids, club loaners and event use. Hand it to a driver and race—there are no settings to accidentally change between heats.
This version is equipped with our preferred3-pin XLR connectorfor a fast, positive and secure connection to OmniSlotBox systems and other compatibly wired XLR analog tracks.

A Wider "Sweet Spot"
One of the things we particularly like about Professor Motor transistor controllers is theirbroad usable response range.
Traditional resistor controllers depend heavily on matching controller resistance to the motor and track voltage. Get the combination right and they can work very well. Change the motor or voltage, however, and the same controller may becometoo touchy or too sluggish.
The PMTR2104's transistor design is much less dependent on that narrow resistance match. The result is what we call a wider"sweet spot"—comfortable, progressive control across a broader range of cars, motors and track voltages.
This doesn't mean every car will respond identically. It means you're much less likely to need a different controller simply because you've changed cars or motor types.
That's particularly valuable forhouse and club controllers, where the same controller may be used with many different cars during a race day.
Built to Be a Great House Controller
Not every controller needs a collection of knobs and switches.
For a club, home track or event, a house controller should bepredictable, durable and easy to use. The fixed-response PMTR2104 provides smooth electronic control without requiring a new driver to understand sensitivity or brake adjustments before enjoying the race.

Direct Wired Analog Response
The PMTR2104 is awired analog controller. Driver input directly regulates the track's analog power circuit without the command processing or wireless communication required by digital and wireless control systems.
That immediate, predictable relationship between trigger movement and car response is one of the pleasures of wired analog racing.
Recommended Applications

Not recommended for Group 12, Group 15 or similar high-current commercial racing motors, particularly on heavily glued or extremely high-traction tracks.Excessive current demand may activate the controller's internal protection circuitry.
Using Track Voltage to Adjust the Feel
Because the PMTR2104 has fixed response rather than adjustable sensitivity,track voltage provides another useful way to tailor the driving experience.
If a particular car feels too aggressive for beginning drivers, reducing track voltage can make throttle response easier to manage while also reducing crash speeds. This makes the PMTR2104 particularly useful on tracks equipped with an adjustable power supply.
XLR Connector & Other Connection Options
This controller is supplied with our preferred3-pin XLR connectorfor a fast, secure connection to OmniSlotBox systems and other compatibly wired XLR tracks.
We also offer the PMTR2104 withalligator clips, as well as adapters that allow an XLR-equipped controller to be used at tracks with other connection systems.

Handle Colors & Controller Identification
Our preferred stock configuration is theclear Professor Motor handle. Clear handles make it easy to identify otherwise identical controllers using our color and number ID stickers.
When supplied from our normal clear-handle inventory, we include acolor/number controller ID sticker kit, allowing controllers to be quickly assigned to different lanes or driver positions while keeping the controllers themselves interchangeable.
Professor Motor also offers molded handles in several colors, subject to current manufacturer availability. There isno additional charge for handle color. If you prefer a particular available color, message us when ordering. Additional lead time may apply if your requested color is not in our inventory.

Why We Recommend It
The PMTR2104 fills an important gap between inexpensive fixed-resistance controllers and more complicated adjustable competition controllers.
It's simple enough for someone who has never driven a slot car before, yet its transistor electronics provide the smooth response and broad operating range experienced racers can appreciate.
Good electronic control, a wide sweet spot, direct wired response, no settings to fiddle with and a secure XLR connection—an excellent combination for a home or club raceway.
