JK Direct Drive 1/32 Mazda Dyson – Steel Chassis
Gearless analog 1/32 slot car built on JK's steel direct-drive chassis with a lightweight vacuum-formed Mazda Dyson body.
Direct-Drive Chassis
- Motor drives the rear axle directly with no gears
- Approximate Weight: 86g
- Approximate Motor Magnetic Downforce: 90g
- Low-center-of-gravity steel chassis
- Lightweight aluminum/carbon rear wheels with foam tires
- Includes braid suitable for Carrera and larger braid for wood/commercial track use
Track & Power
- Suitable for analog Carrera Evolution/Exclusiv, routed wood tracks, and OmniSlotBox analog operation
- Not recommended for Scalextric track because of guide dimensions
- Use an analog power supply capable of approximately 3A or more per lane
Motor Care
Direct-drive motors can become hot during extended hard running. Allow roughly one minute of cooling after about ten minutes of continuous racing and let the motor cool if performance begins to fall off.
🏁 Exclusive OmniSlotBox Race Prep & Custom Tuning
Every JK Direct Drive car we sell is personally race-prepped by Jim Cunningham before shipment. The basic preparation is the same work we perform on our Cheetah anglewinders where it applies, but the Direct Drive chassis does not require the anglewinder-specific pinion movement, motor-shaft trimming or rear-axle spacing correction.
Thin, Narrow Guide Braid
We replace the thick, wide factory braid with a finer, narrower braid. Because the front of these cars rides primarily on the guide and braid rather than on the front wheels, braid thickness and width directly affect friction, guide depth and chassis height.
- Less friction on plastic track: Wide braid can rub on the plastic beside the conductor rails. Narrow braid keeps more of the contact area on the metal rail.
- More consistent electrical pickup: The finer braid conforms closely to the rail surface and maintains a more useful contact patch.
- Deeper guide position: Thinner braid allows the guide to sit farther into the slot.
- Lower front ride height: Because the guide carries the front of the car, thinner braid can lower the chassis and center of gravity.
Chassis Wear Indicator & Electrical Protection
We apply yellow wear tape at the low point of the chassis. As the foam rear tires wear and the chassis moves closer to the rails, the tape provides an easy visual warning and helps insulate the chassis from accidental rail contact and arcing.
Rear Body Trim
On the lightweight sports/prototype bodies, we trim excess rear body overhang to improve the aerodynamic profile and give the car a cleaner racing shape. Removing the extra overhang also reduces the chance that the flexible body will tuck over a rear tire during a crash and bind the wheel.
The result is not simply a stock JK Direct Drive car taken out of the package. It is inspected, adjusted and race-prepped at OmniSlotBox using what we have learned from running these cars on our own tracks.
