1970 Dynamic Anglewinder Brass Chassis – Custom 1/32 McLaren M8A Slot Car A true piece of slot racing history from the golden era—when the fastest cars weren’t bought, they were built. This custom 1/32 McLaren M8A was hand-assembled circa 1969–1970 by Captain William Wilson. Documentation found with the car (dated 12-9-69) places him with the 21st Weather Squadron (USAFE), the first fully deployable weather squadron supporting air and ground operations across Europe during that period. A rare and fascinating provenance that connects this car to a very specific moment in time. Car Details: Chassis: Dynamic brass anglewinder features guide droparm, "batwing"' sidepans with soldered pin tube body mounts. Motor: Period-correct Mabuchi 16D Drive: Angled alloy gear setup Wheels: Dynamic set-screw alloy wheels Guide: Dynamic guide flag Body & Presentation: Detailed and accurately finished McLaren M8A Can-Am Includes Bruce Mclaren driver figure and correct period decals. Slight staining of body above front wheels as occurs on most cars of this age as front tire rubber vapor stains butrate body material. Body has no cracks or blemishes. Car appears to have been tested only. Why This Car Matters: This is not a reproduction or modern build—it’s an authentic period car from the era when serious racers fabricated their own machines from brass, wire, and ingenuity. Cars with documented builder history are rare. One tied to a USAFE officer stationed in Europe during the Cold War? That’s the kind of story that doesn’t come along twice.
