NSR Slot Car Setup & Tuning Guide
A practical guide to getting better performance from your NSR slot cars
NSR produces some of our favorite high-performance 1/32 slot cars, but one of their strengths is also the amount of adjustment available. Chassis stiffness, motor-pod setup, suspension, gearing, tires, motor choice and guide configuration can all change how a car behaves.
NSR created this Guide for Easy Setup and Tuning Cars to provide racers with a practical starting point for tuning without requiring extensive experience or hours of testing.

One point we particularly appreciate is NSR's emphasis on matching the setup to the track and available grip rather than simply replacing parts with supposedly faster ones. For example, NSR recommends different chassis stiffness depending upon whether you're racing on a relatively low-grip Carrera surface or a high-grip treated wood track.
Likewise, more motor isn't necessarily better. NSR specifically notes that an excessively fast motor can make a car more difficult to drive.
Start with the Car You Have
Our advice is similar: make one change at a time.
Before replacing parts, make sure the basic car is free, straight and properly adjusted. Tires, chassis movement, guide setup and gearing can make enormous differences. Changing several things simultaneously may make the car faster, but it makes it much harder to learn why it became faster—or slower.
